Professor Kyles tells Shuya that when she is paraphrasing in her report, she also uses 7 or more words in sequence from the source. Therefore, quotations marks must be used for a direct quotation in addition to a locator (such as a page number) that must be part of the citation--even if other parts of the paraphrase are correctly done and properly cited. Otherwise, a reader cannot tell when Shuya is paraphrasing from when she is directly quoting the source.
